Product information (General)

Compostable products are certified to break down completely into non-toxic components (water, carbon dioxide) that will not harm the environment. Our compostable products are proven to break down within 6 months on land and 2 years in the ocean. This can put your mind at ease, knowing that eventually no trace of your purchase will be left on the planet.

PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate) is a fully biodegradable polymer. PBAT combines some of the beneficial attributes of synthetic and bio based polymers. It is derived from common petrochemicals- purified terephthalic acid, butanediol and adipic acid. It is fully biodegradable.

When buried in real soil environments, it breaks down completely and leaves no toxic residues behind.

Polylactic Acid (PLA) is different than most thermoplastic polymers in that it is derived from renewable resources like corn starch or sugar cane. It is therefore fully plant based.

The results indicated that  the durability and toughness properties were greatly improved when PLA is blended with PBAT.

Product information (Cling film)

Our 100% compostable cling film is made up of the following:

  • About 97% PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate)
    biodegradable & compostable
  • about 3% PLA (Polylactide, which is made from
    waste corn and other plants)
    biodegradable & compostable

Yes! Our cling film is suitable for home composting as well as industrial composting. Whether home or commercially composted, the bioplastics will break down without creating methane or emitting any toxins harmful to our environment.

Yes! Our compostable cling film is certified with the European standard EN 13432. This defines the characteristics a finished product must fulfil in order to be recovered through organic recovery. This certificate certifies the product as compostable and fits these criteria:

  • is biodegradable under composting conditions.
  • disintegrates completely in one composting cycle.
  • has no toxic effects and does not release heavy metals over a given value into the compost
  • has no negative effect on the composting process itself.

The certificate is achieved through rigorous testing including Disintegration test ; Non-toxic test, Heavy metal content test ; Compost test.

We do not recommend using this product in the freezer, there are other green alternatives that suit this more including reusable tubs and beeswax wraps.

Just like plastic cling film, we do not recommend using this product in the microwave. A simple plate or cover for your food is a better green option!

Unlike many other “green” options in the market, there is absolutely no plastic waste in our packaging or product. A 100% biodegradable product makes our laundry sheets a much kinder and safer laundry detergent solution for the environment, your skin, and your clothes.
-Laundry Detergent Sheet: biodegradable formula, ingredients are paraben-free, dye-free, Chlorine Bleach free, Phosphate free
-Package: eco-friendly and biodegradable Kraft paper box, zero waste
-Printing ink: eco-friendly

No you don’t! We find that the laundry sheets are enough to make the clothes clean and soft.

Product information (Tin foil)

Yes! Our tin foil is 100% recycled and endlessly recyclable- now that’s what we call a circular economy!

Our recycled tin foil takes 95% less energy to produce than regular tin foil. This is because the foil is made from Post consumer recycled aluminium- meaning it has had a life previously. The extraction of aluminium is very energy intensive, therefore creating more energy and subsequently more carbon entering the earth’s atmosphere.

Product information (Face masks)

Our 100% compostable face masks are made from 100% PLA (Polylactic acid) The PLA is a biopolymer made from sustainable and renewable resources creating a soft texture. It is a lightweight, fine-filament web featuring an embossed point bond pattern.

Yes! The face masks are 100% certified for home composting and industrial composting.

Yes! For a product to be certified compostable, all elements need to be compostable.

Yes! For a product to be certified compostable, all elements need to be compostable.

Type 1 and Type 2 are both effective at helping stop the spread of viruses and harmful bacteria.

Type 1 have a tested 95% bacteria filtration efficiency, whereas Type 2 have a bacterial filtration efficiency of 98%. Type 2 face masks are specialised to be used in medical settings and close proximity environments such as hospitals and care homes. Type 2 have a medical grade which has been tested to industry standards.

With the Type 1 face masks, there is a choice as to whether you have the word compostable printed on the mask.

Yes, this is subject to a minimum order and dependant on the logo wanted. Please contact us at info@ecogreenliving.co.uk for more information.

No, they are available in white only. This is because too much dye can compromise the compostable nature of the mask.

The shelf life is currently set at 12 months. However, this is such a new product that testing is still being done to determine its shelf life.

Product information (Aprons)

Our 100% compostable aprons are made from Mater-bi. Mater-bi is a compostable bioplastic and is made from a mix of renewable resources such as corn starch, cellulose and vegetable oil.  More about Mater-bi as a material can be found here: https://www.novamont.com/eng/mater-bi
